AVIATION DAY
United Airlines Hanger - DIA "Some things that I learn at aviation day, is how motors worked. I learned that when you give it more gas, the faster it makes the plane, because when you give it more gas it pumps more gas into the chamber which makes more power. When the piston is open then gas gets pumped in, and air gets pumped in, then when the piston reaches the bottom, the valves closes, and the piston comes back up and the spark plug ignites it, then the piston goes back does and releases all the gas. My favorite part was walking through the C-130. I thought it was cool to walk through it and learn the jobs of everyone and where they sat. Something that excites me about aerospace, was learning that airplane engines are not much different that cars." - Kolton Kneebone |

Balsa Wood Gliders
"My test flight with the balsa_wood glider went good on Friday. I mostly won because of the amount of thrust it had. I threw it very hard and it went the furthest. The plane did yaw right and did a couple of spins into the ground. I used the design process to construct, model, and test my glider. The AERY software was helpful during the design of the glider in helping me construct it and know if it will fly." - Caleb Cimo |
